DIXIELAND AT THE MERC

Dixieland at The Merc is a monthly show dedicated to bringing the best of local and regional Dixieland talent to Old Town Temecula. The host band, Timeless (The Music You Remember) anchors the show on the third Sunday of every month. In addition, guest artists and guest bands are invited each month to provide variety and a breadth of experience to the show's audience of young and old alike.
Dixieland music is as American as Apple Pie. With rhythms ranging from the strong toe-tapping, swing dancing beat to the familiar blues progressions, it's hard not to become swept up in the excitement generated by an energetic Dixie band. While the trumpet carries the lively melodies, the clarinet provides the signature sound with rapid runs and frills. The distinct slide of a trombone that lends its characteristic flavor. Always, there's something about the sound that leaves a smile on the listener's face.
Originating in the deep South and gaining its greatest following around New Orleans and especially the renowned Bourbon Street, today it is truly a favorite across the country with bands and jazz clubs perpetuating the style as vigorously as ever. Dixieland at the Merc is proud to continue this rich American tradition right here in our own home town.
