In early 2005, jazz vocalist Robin Adler and her husband guitarist Dave Blackburn formed a group with the single purpose of performing the repertoire of Canadian composer Joni Mitchell.
Although many people think of Mitchell as a folk singer from the late 60s, she quickly gravitated to pop and then jazz. Llike Miles Davis, she was an innovator who never looked back, and was never to be pigeon holed. When legendary jazz bassist Charles Mingus asked Joni to collaborate with him on his last musical project before his death in 1979, she could be considered a bona fide member of the jazz brotherhood.
