Featuring: Afro-Brazilian Jazz with Sonia Santos

Check out their Video!

We are thrilled to welcome back the iconic singer Sonia Santos to The Merc! Sonia is a legendary figure in the history of Brazilian popular music, widely recognized in her native Brazil and featured by mainstream media alongside many of the country’s most celebrated musicians and TV personalities. She has had the honor of performing songs written for her by renowned composers such as Jorge Ben Jor, Tim Maia, and Luis Melodia, among others.

In the United States, Sonia has been a pioneer in bringing Brazilian music to Los Angeles, earning critical acclaim for her performances across the globe, including Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Her music is deeply influenced by African rhythms that helped shape the Brazilian sound, and she has developed a unique Afro-Brazilian jazz style rooted in her exceptional talent.

Sonia Santos will be accompanied by guitarist, arranger, and singer Denys Cristian, trombonist and percussionist Fábio Kizambo, and maestre Amen Santo, who will perform on the traditional Afro-Brazilian percussion instrument, the Makele.

Together, this incredible quartet will celebrate November, a month dedicated to Afro-Brazilian consciousness, capturing "O Espírito da Coisa"—the essence of Afro-Brazilian culture through their music.

This is a one-of-a-kind concert you won’t want to miss! Space is limited, so we strongly recommend purchasing your tickets as soon as possible.
