“Sounds like the Gypsy Kings backing a trio of forceful MCs spitting tongue-twisting, politically-charged, trilingual rhymes with a tangible, fiery conviction. Or Ozomatli’s more interesting long lost cousins.” - Westword
Since forming in 2006, Debajo del Agua has become a Latin hip-hop phenomenon. A seven-piece instrumental band with members from Chile, Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, France, Puerto Rico and the United States, the band fuses hip hop with Andean music, samba, son, salsa, cumbia, reggae, and reggaeton, to take crowds by storm with high-energy performances and a musical style that is irresistibly danceable. Upbeat Afro-Latino percussion, bamboo wind instruments, Caribbean and South American strings back spitfire lyrics (in Spanish, English, and Portuguese) to deliver a message of peace, justice, and equal rights.
