Duet Paty & Leo: Brazilian Jazz with a Classic Touch
We start 2026 with a great quartet! Duet Paty & Leo are joined by Marcelo Bucater and Arthur De Palla for an unforgettable evening at The Merc.
When voice and guitar meet with chemistry and purpose, something magical happens.
Duet Paty & Leo is the inspired collaboration between two exceptional Brazilian artists whose musical bond began as teenagers at a music university in Brazil—she, a sixteen-year-old vocalist already winning international competitions; he, a seventeen-year-old guitarist performing alongside top Brazilian artists.
Years later, after performing around the world—Paty earning a Latin Grammy nomination and Leo completing a master’s in Guitar Performance and touring Europe with the Utah State Jazz Orchestra—they reunited to form Duet Paty & Leo, a duo that blends the sophistication of jazz with the soul of Brazil.
For this concert at The Merc, the duo expands into a quartet, joined by:
• Marcelo Bucater (drums) – Drum Department Chair at the Los Angeles College of Music, known for his work with Marcos Valle, Céu, and Arthur Verocai.
• Arthur de Palla (bass) – A seasoned performer who has shared stages with Djavan, Carlinhos Brown, and Ivete Sangalo.
Together, the Paty & Leo Quartet transforms the intimacy of their duo into a full, vibrant sound. Expect a night of Brazilian rhythms, jazz improvisation, and heartfelt connection—where every note tells their story of passion, partnership, and joy in making music.
